raya comes again ... :)

few more days before merdeka-raya day. yeaayy!!

finally I got places to go during raya day. my dad plans to bring our family to his Muslim friends' open houses ... and I'll get to taste all the raya treats, yeayy!!

I'm looking forward to taste these very soon ...

BURAS - made of crushed glutinous rice & coconut milk, it's a common Bugis traditional food aka Raya treats. also known as  Burasak. wrapped in banana leaves, cooked in the hot boiling water for at least 3 hours. goes well with any dishes :)

KELUPIS - slightly similar with Buras. but while Buras is tied separately, Kelupis is tied in groups. got 2 kinds of Kelupis, the salty & sweet kind. originated from Malay Brunei people. some people would use red rice (beras merah). ;)

NASU LIKKU - also known as Ayam Masak Lengkuas, it's a Bugis traditional dish. goes well with Buras & other food made of rice (lemang, ketupat, nasi putih ... you know, all those products) :P

SERUNDING - yeaah ... I know, it's a common dish throughout Malaysia.  no need to explain further. yg penting, sy suka!! love to eat it with Buras & salty Kelupis :))

KUIH CINCIN - can be found easily in the Pantai Barat area in Sabah. I'm living in Sandakan district, so it's hard to find one with great taste here. the best Kuih Cincin comes from Bongawan. a sweet delicacies made of rice flour, wheat flour, brown sugar & nipah sugar. hard at outside, sweet & soft inside. :3

SANGGAR PERPEK - I've been searching for its name for ages! means 'Pisang Pukul' (directly translated). it's like kerepek pisang, but well ... kerepek pisang is not smashed like this. a unique delicacy from Bugis people. ;)

RAYA COOKIES - ahh, no need to explain. surely available, haha. xD

most of the dishes posted here are Bugis dishes. wonder why?

well, most of Muslims that live in my hometown are Bugis people. so what more can be found here during raya other than Bugis traditional food? hohoo.
